Betty Neesam
July 6, 1934 - February 7, 2019
With deeply saddened hearts we say goodbye to Betty Neesam, who passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the age of 84. Betty is the beloved wife of 58 years to Malcolm Neesam. She is the loved mother of Timothy (with Linda Weichel), Mark and Susan (with Tom Daly). She is the daughter of John and Nora (Simpson) Postlethwaite, and sibling of Dorothy (Philip), Bill (John) and June (Alec). Born in England in Barrow-in-Furness, Betty spent much of her life caring for others as a nurse in Barrow, Winchester and London. Emigrating to Canada in 1966, she worked as a Supervisor at Trillium Villa in Sarnia, Ontario and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sarnia, setting up the first ‘Lifeline’ in Canada. Betty was a lover of tennis, soups, and crime novels of all shapes and sizes. Betty was also an inveterate fan of Jeopardy and CBC's Power and Politics and The House, and was known to enjoy a nice glass of wine with dinner. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jim Williams for care and house calls. Gratitude to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Victorian Order of Nurses, St. Elizabeth Health, and the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for all their help and support. In place of flowers, donations to any of these organizations are appreciated. http://jcc.hhsc.ca/ https://www.von.ca/en/donate-now https://sehc.com/ https://kemphospice.org/donate
