Nathaniel Hammond
July 24, 1986 - July 4, 2016
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearest son and brother, Nathaniel Hammond. Son of Ken Hammond and Cate/Cathy Walker Hammond (Alex Guthro). Best friend and brother of Aaron Hammond. Nathaniel was an inspiration to all of us, courageous and never complaining through 3 cancers, the first at age 11 months. Throughout a life-time of medical challenges, Nathaniel kept a positive attitude, always saying “it could be worse”. We will miss Nathaniel’s beautiful smile, eccentric ways, and quirky sense of humour. Nathaniel started every day with 3 things he was thankful for, including his loving family and friends who helped keep him home in palliative care these last 2 years. Grandson to Vera Walker (John, deceased), and the late George and Helen Hammond. Nephew to Vera Litzen (Terry), Jan Emberson (Joe), Marj Walker, and Bob Walker (Lori Carmichael), Mark Hammond (Janice), Elizabeth Wallace (Barry), and StephenHammond. Loving cousins brightened hospital stays, and movie nights: Jenny, Josh, Jake (Petra), JD (Katelyn), and Joanne, Brad (Catherine), Megan, Amy (Paul) Matthew (Julie), Spencer, Cassidy, and Caleb, Phillip, Sarah, Andrew and Colin. We are grateful for the amazing help we’ve had through Nathaniel’s journey. Buddy Peter Rosser, Nurses Vida, Sharon, Maureen, Mara, Henry, Bonita, and more, PSW Beth and Penny, the Palliative team, TPN team ICU staff, Dr Woods and staff, and so many doctors, nurses and hospital staff who went over and above at Juravinksi, McMaster, and General Hospitals. All are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Saturday July 16, 2:00-4:00 at Dundas Valley Montessori School, 14 Kemp Dr, Dundas. Donations can be made to Juravinksi Hospital, Good Shepherd, or a charity of your choice. Till we meet again
