William (Bill) Gerald George Martin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Came into this world on July 17, 1946, in Ottawa Ontario, and left this world on March 23, 2020, at Hamilton Health Sciences, Hamilton General Hospital. He will be greatly missed by many people young and old alike who were fortunate to have had him in their lives. He was mischievous and fun, with an enormous appreciation for life. He was a good person, loving, generous, friendly, and very hard working. Many have fond memories of Bill, as a Respiratory Therapist, a passionate, competitive healthcare diagnostic sales representative, entrepreneur, a Jensen car enthusiast and wise friend. Whether perfecting his cooking talents with the latest technology, enjoying local craft beers or sipping fine wine, repairing or restoring cars, touring and racing his cars, cheering for the Maple Leafs, trying to find the best deals online, he was a happy man. He was a devoted husband of 46 years to Adele. He was a very proud father who celebrated and admired Kyle (Anna) and Leigh (Steve). He was a treasured Dido to his precious grandchildren Jude, Reid and Mavrik. He was a big brother, sometimes a pain, but truly loved, to sisters Marilyn (Bob) and Mae. He was a brother to Ron (predeceased) and Barry (predeceased). He was Uncle Bill to nieces and nephew Kelly, Shannon, Tobi, Andria, Jesse, Kerri, Leslie and Buddy (predeceased). He leaves behind many great nieces and nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbours. Bill maintained an excellent quality of life during his retirement, travelling, car shows, lunches out with his buddies, visiting with dear friends, touring wineries, visiting his family in BC, face-timing, restoring his British cars, keeping in touch with current events, always sharing jokes- laughing the hardest and taking beer breaks on the back deck with Adele after working hard on the property saying over and over again “I love my life”. Weeks ago, he entered Hamilton General Hospital with pneumonia and lost his battle very quickly. Adjusting to hospital life was tough in the ICU but made easier by the expertise of critical care nurses, Intensivists and the healthcare team who treated Bill with compassion and dignity. Deep appreciation goes out to Bill’s dearest friend Ken, who gave Adele relentless support through this very difficult time. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather again.
